Alessandra Leão is a singer, composer, percussionist, and producer born in Pernambuco, in the Northeast of Brazil. She has a career spanning over 25 years and has released nine albums. ACESA, her latest work, was produced and arranged by her alongside music producer Caê Rolfsen, with whom she also produced Macumbas e Catimbós, nominated for the Latin Grammy in 2019.

Making a tribute to artists and religious leaders from different traditions of popular culture in Pernambuco and Paraíba, Alessandra Leão has worked alongside renowned Brazilian musicians such as Antônio Nóbrega, Siba, Juçara Marçal, Guilherme Kastrup, Tulipa Ruiz, Cátia de França, Jorge Du Peixe (Nação Zumbi), Anelis Assumpção, and Assucena (Bahias e Cozinha Mineira). She has also collaborated with Chico César, Kiko Dinucci, Juliano Holanda, and Lívia Mattos.

Since 2000, she has performed in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Currently, she tours with the shows ACESA, Solo, and a duo with Master Sapopemba. She also teaches singing and ilú (a drum used in terreiros — Afro-Brazilian houses of worship — of Xangô and Jurema in Pernambuco).
