Diogo Picão is a musician, composer and lyricist. He grew up as a musician, studied saxophone, became a singer-songwriter and hopes to grow old as a poet and bohemian. Born in 1988 in Lourinhã (Portugal), he began studying the saxophone at Escola de Jazz de Torres Vedras in 2003 and graduated in Music at ESMAE, Porto, in 2009. An accomplished songwriter, in February 2018 Picão released his debut album, “Cidade Saloia”, which he presented in Portugal and Brazil. His second album “Palavras Caras” came out in September 2022. A radio Antena 1 (national radio) record, it features about twenty musicians including guests Salvador Sobral, Mônica Salmaso and Luca Argel. The launch was at Teatro Maria Matos, Lisbon, in front of a full house. Also in 2022, Picão participated with a showcase at the Ibero-American Music Expo, Exib, and was part of the cast of the show “Pantera” by Companhia de Dança Clara Andermatt, in a tribute to the Cape Verdean singer and musician Orlando “Pantera”. In 2023, the theme “Encontro de Amigos” was nominated for the International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) in two categories: “Best Song” and “Traditional”. He continues to write, as his greatest need, songs about everyday life, social relationships, the enchantment of life, nature, the illusions of love and a whole host of other things.
Palavras Caras, last album, it's an Antena 1 record (national Portuguese radio) and had the support of SPA (Portuguese Society of Authors). It features twenty musicians including guests Salvador Sobral, Mônica Salmaso and Luca Argel. It was presented in Portugal, France and South Korea.
