Ely Janoville is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Lisbon since 2021. Currently pursuing a doctorate in music composition at ULisboa/ESML, he works in multiple fields, accompanying, performing, and arranging for a wide range of Brazilian, Portuguese, and international artists such as MADU, Renata Rosa, Ana Lua Caiano, Jhon Douglas, Tita Maravilha, Kurup, Satanique Samba Trio, Sasha Waltz and Guests, among others. His latest project features renowned musicians Thiago Ramalho on electric guitar and Neto Trajano on percussion, presenting newly composed instrumental pieces that explore forró, jazz, samba, and choro, inspired by references including Azymuth, Hermeto Pascoal, Conjunto Som 4, Sambalanço Trio, Capiba, Sivuca, Philip Glass, and Steve Reich.

The performance moves fluidly between classic samba/jazz and choro atmospheres and more contemporary explorations of free improvisation, intricate conventions, and mantric soundscapes. Where tradition meets experimentation, Ely Janoville crafts music that is both timeless and forward-looking.
